Second Novel Out June 27 2019!
Maggsie McNaughton’s Second Chance
‘My name is Marguerite. Marguerite McNaughton. It’s a poncy name. I can’t actually write Marguerite. What I call myself is Maggsie M. If the penpusher that’s asking for it looks disapproving, I just give them a go-fry-yourself stare.’
Thrilled to be part of the Lucy Cavendish College Creative Writing Course in Cambridge this autumn!
I’ll be speaking about my books and unreliable first person narrators on Saturday, September 28th.
Two library talks on Maggsie coming up this autumn
Tuesday, September 17th at 7.30, Poole library.
Friday, October 18th 2019, 4.30 – 5.30, at Parkstone library near Poole, Dorset.
Thanks to the lovely Westbourne Bookshop, near Bournemouth, Dorset for the wonderful paperback launch of ‘The Seven Imperfect Rules of Elvira Carr’ last year.
It was a lovely, and well-attended event. I made a cake based on the book’s cover – tricky to get the icing on in one piece without cracking! Thanks to Paul and Rachel Angell for hosting.
I’m beyond thrilled for ‘Elvira’ to be shortlisted for the Society of Authors McKitterick prize and honoured to be in such good company. The award is for a debut novel written by an author over forty. The prize will be given at the Awards Evening on July 19th 2018 with Stephen Fry doing the honours! Thanks to my wonderful agent Juliet Mushens and the lovely Sam Humphreys at Mantle/Pan Macmillan for getting me this far.
Runner-up! See Blog page for a photo of me with the great Stephen Fry!
